Identity verification and validation is at the heart of access when it comes to military base access, public transportation facilities such as airports and train stations, and disaster areas such as those following hurricane Katrina or the Haiti earthquake. Government and government-related agencies are increasingly moving towards two methods of identity validation. The first form of identity is a government-issued credential such as a PIV, CAC, or TWIC card or a passport or driver’s license. The second form of identity is biometric such as a set of fingerprints. When a perimeter must be secure, identity credentials are key to understand who has permission to enter an area of containment. Smartcards such as the FRAC card for first responders is often used in this case. The MaxID product family of handheld mobile computers combined with powerful software from MaxID or third parties, are able to read both biometrics and company or government issued credentials in the field – smart cards such as PIV, PIV-I, TWIC, CAC or FRAC as well as other government credentials such as passports, driver licenses and Seafarer’s ID. The iDL series of hardware products, combined with powerful software from MaxID can provide the perfect solution for controlling access to key facilities and monitoring movement of people in and out of a controlled perimeter area. |
